Space Use Agreement

On entering the Rewind property, you agree to be bound by this space useage agreement.

Safe, harassment-free space

All events and interactions with others within Rewind, including any events hosted at rewind or that Rewind hosts onsite or elsewherea are bound by the [[Rewind Code of Conduct]]. The Code of Conduct forms part of the Space use agreement.

Rewind does not tolerate any form of violent, abusive, harassing, sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ethnonationalist behavior.

Charles Sturt lists these behaviours as unacceptable for communities centres:
• Discrimination
• Racism
• Bullying and/or Harassment
• Verbal and/or physical abuse
• The use of, or being under the influence of non-prescribed drugs and/or alcohol
• Ageism
• Putting the safety of yourself and others at risk

Additional suggestions:

  • threats and intimidation - verbal and physical
  • sexual harassment and assault
  • aggression

Violation of the Space Use Agreement

Engaging in such behaviour, will result in being asked to leave the space. ~~In order return you must demonstrate your capacity to change.~~ Repeat offenders may be banned at the discretion of Rewind.

For offences perpetrated by members, the committee may decide, depending on severity of the offence, to proceed with member expulsion as per the constitution.

If the expelled member is also a studio resident at Rewind, their residency will be terminated at the same time as expulsion is finalised. A person must be a member in order to be eligible for studio residency.

Expected behaviour

Charles Sturt lists these as expected behaviours for communities centres:

• Open: being honest and fair in dealing with each other

• Respectful

• Polite and courteous at all times

• Tolerance: respecting diversity of our community including their beliefs or practices

• Adhering to staff direction as required

Outside of events, Noise expectations are that loud activities such as playing music should not happen before 7AM and after 10PM at levels causing disturbance to other users of the space. Noisy work should happen within the hours of 7AM-10PM and anything creating a consistent disturbance should be done so with a prior notification of anyone present. Noise outside this time is permitted with the consensus of other present users of the space.

All users of the space are expected to tidy up after themselves and to, wherever possible, contain messy tasks in a confined area. In addition, studio holders are expected to complete one "deep cleaning" task per month.

Shared spaces are responsibilities that all users of the spaces share. It is expected that tools be returned to their homes and materials/works in progress be stored in a neat way. ~~Bins should be emptied regularly and the liner replaced.~~

Members are expected to attend one(1) out of every three(3) consecutive meetings. Meetings are held one and a half(1.5) weeks apart alternating between Wednesday six(6) PM and Sunday twelve(12) PM. If a member misses more than three(3) consecutive meetings they should be consulted about their ongoing commitment and engagement in Rewind. Membership may be revoked for lack of commitment.

Members may have no more than 3 invited guests in the space. More than this requires a Chill Resolution.

Studio residents are not entitled to any discounts or special access to facilities or services. This includes any bar stock and use of the rehearsal room.

Dispute Resolution

need dispute resolution protocol

  1. informal discussion between parties
  2. formal internal mediation: discussed before 3rd party/committee
  3. external intervention: alternate dispute resolution services (such as Uniting communities https://www.unitingcommunities.org/service/legal-services/mediation) or in some cases perusing legal resolution

Illness

If you are symptomatic of any infectious disease, do not come to the space, until symptoms have ceased and are testing negative. If you are already in the space when you begin to feel symptomatic, take a test, don't use any shared kitchen facilities, sanitize before and after using bathrooms, start masking and go home as soon as possible.

Organisational Security

All users of the space need to make sure that doors are closed and locked when not actively in use.

Users of the space are free to use the Rewind WiFi network, but not for any illegal purposes, and solely at their own risk.

Users of the space can't do anything that may damage Rewind's reputation or finances, including making truthful public statements.

Additionally to any protections given to whistleblowers under relevant law, Rewind cannot directly or indirectly punish any user of the space for whistleblowing to the Committee, to external groups, or 'going public' after making their concerns known in a meeting.
